A Community Art Studio Built for Connection and Healing

Who We Are

At Firebird Community Arts, creative practice becomes a pathway to healing, connection, and opportunity for young people and communities impacted by violence and adversity.

We relocated to East Garfield Park to be closer to the communities we serve and to expand access to affordable, high-quality arts instruction and safe spaces where art supports healing.

Firebird fulfills its mission through three core programs—Project FIRE, FireWork, and Firebrand. We welcome people from neighborhoods across Chicago’s South and West Sides to learn, create, and grow together. We also bring together individuals who might never otherwise meet, building connection and understanding through shared creative experiences.

For more than three decades, Firebird has helped thousands develop empathy, navigate challenges, discover new opportunities, and strengthen their sense of belonging.

Through art, individuals and communities find pathways toward healing and possibility, especially for young people building safer, more hopeful futures.
